Barras Came a Travellin' 14.03.2009

Reportedly the best classic rock and blues band in the north east, yes they were really very, very good, however with talent must come arrogance because I have never met anyone so up themself. Guys you are not Michael Jackson and do not have a status like him, don't be ar**s all your lives, enjoy the experience.

Knockin' On Heavens Door At The Thatch

Well it was still a great turn-out even though the winter bugs had confined some of our regulars to a night at home. Net overcame her bad throat and cold with the highly medicinal Thatch Alcohol Theory, drink enough and you'll forget all about it! And it worked, heh heh....Hi Paul, thanks for your comment regards, "Whole Lotta Rosie", we aim to please. Good choice BoBo & Janet it certainly seemed popular. We will do a Green Day song as promised but Jon and I need to learn the same one. Nice to see Trevor & Mel enjoying good music, good beer and good conversation. They even moved to the front of the bar for a better view and got a lift home with the band. Paul, Woodsa and the footie guys great to see you as always you may not win them all, but you always celebrate. Good on ya! Hi Marcus thanks for checking us out on route to your Berwick night out, catch ya next week ,hope you had a good one. Keef, Somewhere In My Heart, pretty damn good. Sex On Fire as karaeoke and Fairytale Of New York was cool! Ska ska ska, anyone would think you ride a scooter.........Net, shouted acrooss the chords for Knocking On Heavens Door, Jon played them and Bernie ad-libbed the words and everyone sang along. What was that all about? Now she has that guitar book there will be no stopping her.........Once again thanks to everyone for a great night at what is becoming the areas best Saturday night live venue. Next visit, New Years Eve/Old Years Night

New Songs, Net's Got A Guitar, Birthdays And Yet Another Stomper.
We knew our second visit to The Thatch was gonna' be fun, and we were not wrong! Following a successful England football win on the big screen we got the gear in and hastily set up. A packed "Thatch" once again enthusiastically joined in on the singing and encouraged us to "turn it up" and we happily obliged. We performed some new covers, Girls On Film, Save Tonight, Freefallin' and Somewhere In My Heart. Rosie ( the birthday girl ) & the VIP's celebrated in style and you certainly looked like you had a good night. Woodsie ( the birthday boy ) & The Thatch Football Team your all mad as hatters! Hey Woodsie we have some video footage that your mamma would not want to see, you bad boy! You guys are gonna suffer at the match at Sprouston, Hangover Hell.......hee hee hee. Thanks to you all for singing along, hope you had a crackin night. Keef did his party bit and happily joined us for Nothin' Ever Happens. Nice one mate, Personal Jesus next time ( but don't tell Net). NO DEPECHE MODE! BoBo, we got the message AC/DC Whole Lotta Rosie its on our list. Wallace, "Folshom Prison Blues", was especially for you we hope you enjoyed it. It was nice to meet Terry at last, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comments. Hello, MickRik an Dikey who were doing a great job of propping up the bar and sampling the top quality booze. And oh yes! Net has got a gee...tar....a new E string gauge 9 is on its way. Plus a tune-up, cos somebody said, "Your supposed to tune a guitar". A classic stomping night , see you all next month.

The Annual Onion Club Show took place last Sunday. A Mega day was enjoyed by everyone.
This years show was won by K Lomax, Second J Gray and Third B Milburn.
B Milburn also scooped the cups for Biggest in show and Heaviest in Show. Well done to all who entered and to Terry for singing for the second night on the trot albeit a bit horse (Im sure the vodka soothed it though, eh Tel).

This Sunday saw the Mayors Charity Quoits Day and what a day.  The Quoits was won by (singles) Stuart Swan and (doubles) Stuart and Trevor. Well done guys.
We managed to raise £450 for two very worthy Berwick Charities with the entry fees for the Quoits, Tombola, BBQ and Raffle along with two spontanious sponsored events at night time.
Susan rounded the day off perfectly with songs for the 60's to present day.
Thanks to everyone who supported the day, watch out next year for a mega fundraiser weekend....
